Idea Map
Spark-Space Ltd. is a British company that was established in Cambridge, England in 2001 by Elaine Ferguson (concept and design) and Dr. Andres Kruse (software architecture). Spark-Space received a Smart Award for innovation from the DTI based on the initial concept. Following the production of a successful prototype Spark-Space went on to develop the core product fully over the next few years. Spark-Space has been invested in and incubated by a specialist Education and Training company in London (Right to Write Ltd) from which it has drawn invaluable guidance, which gave a unique platform at each stage of development as it was tested and evaluated by the end user. This is reflected in the simplicity and intuitive nature of all Spark-Space products themselves.
Spark-Space is a graphic organiser, which bridges the gap between ideas and the production of a structured piece of writing. It is for students with a conceptual learning style such as those with hidden disabilities like dyslexia. Spark-Space allows students to structure their thoughts at speed and then turn those ideas into a structured document in one program. Spark-Space enables students to see relationships between ideas through its unique 3D view, thus accelerating learning and understanding. Independent working is also encouraged as built in text- to-speech allows them to review and correct their own work. Spark-Space transforms the learning landscape for the LD Learner!
KidSpark is for children, it has all the features a kid will require to create idea maps and documents. It is fun to look at and fun to use and comes with a rich library of clip-art and examples.
Spark Learner is for the student in secondary and higher education. It comes with a number of good examples that illustrate how to use idea mapping as a student. It comes with Text-to-Speech built-in.
Spark Educator is for the teacher. It comes with the Presentation mode to support the teacher during the lessons.
